Draw One, Do It

Draw a single card blind, read it out loud, and beat its time limit together. Proof is the group photo with your crew's hand signal, plus the score you shout out as you rate the card out of five.

Bonus challenge: Let the youngest person invent the hand signal, and use it on every quest from here on.

About This Quest

Grab three friends, a stack of blank cards and a marker, and write a deck of dares for your own town. Then shuffle, draw one blind, and go do whatever it says before the timer runs out.

Your group chat has had the same argument about Saturday a hundred times. Tonight the cards decide instead, and nobody gets to argue with a card. First you write challenges on blank poker-size cards and sort them by color into food, exploration, creativity, physical and social. Then you shuffle, draw one, and chase it down in about ninety minutes. Beginners get the easiest job going: write dares you'd actually be happy to be handed. Short on ideas? Steal a few of these side quests to do with friends, then start the clock.

Why This Quest Matters

Deciding what to do is the part that kills good nights. A card takes the decision away from you, and suddenly four people who were scrolling are walking fast toward a bakery with a time limit. Everyone gets brave in the same direction at once. That's how a random Tuesday turns into the night your friends keep bringing up.

What You'll Experience

  • Write the dares yourselves: Fill blank cards with challenges built around your own streets and inside jokes.
  • Let the shuffle decide: Draw one card face down and find out where your evening is going.
  • Race a real clock: The timer starts as you leave, and the whole group shifts into gear.
  • Seal it with a signal: Finish with a group photo and a hand sign only your deck knows.

Before You Begin

The setup is a table, snacks and people who like each other. Essentials: a pack of blank poker-size cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches), permanent markers in five colors so each category gets its own, and a charged phone for the timer and photos. Handy extras: a 3x5 inch pocket notebook for rating each quest and collecting signatures, a box or rubber band to keep the deck together, and a shared photo folder so everyone can drop pictures in afterward.

Safety Tips

  • Stay as one group once the timer starts. Nobody splits off alone to finish a card faster.
  • Keep at least one phone charged and agree on a meeting spot in case someone gets separated.
  • Tear up any card that needs trespassing, climbing fences or entering a closed business. Public places and open shops only.
  • No card involves alcohol when anyone under 21 is along, and nobody drives as part of a timed challenge.
  • If you're out after dark, stick to lit streets and tell someone at home when you expect to be back.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Write The Deck Together

45 min

Spread the blank cards across the table and start writing dares. Aim for 30 or more, which is plenty to shuffle for your first night. Each card gets three things: what you have to do, how long you get, and what counts as proof. Give each category its own marker color: food, exploration, creativity, physical, social.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Write dares you'd be thrilled to draw. A card nobody wants is a card you'll keep vetoing.
2

Settle The House Rules

15 min

Sort the fine print now, while you're all still laughing. How many vetoes does each person get per night? Does a blurry photo count as proof? When's the next draw? Write the answers on one card and keep it on top of the deck, so future arguments are already decided.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • One veto each per night is the sweet spot. Any more and the bold cards never get played.
3

Shuffle And Draw

10 min

This is the moment the whole deck was built for. Shuffle properly, fan the cards face down, and let someone draw one blind. Read it out loud. Then hand out three jobs: photographer, timekeeper, navigator. No peeking at other cards, and no renegotiating the time limit.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Let whoever complained loudest about being bored do the drawing. It's much harder to object to your own card.
4

Chase It Down

90 min

The timekeeper starts the clock the second you step out the door. Now go do the thing, together. Grab proof as you go: photos, a short video, a receipt, a friendly stranger's signature in the notebook. Even a half-finished challenge makes a far better story than a night of scrolling.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Let the navigator navigate without a vote. Four people debating the route eats your whole time limit.
5

Seal It With A Signal

15 min

You made it back. Crowd in for the group photo and throw your crew's hand signal, the same one every time, so the archive builds its own running joke. Drop every photo into the shared folder within a day, while people still remember who shot what, then rate the quest out of five.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Rate it right away. Tomorrow you'll only remember whether it was fun, not why.
6

Feed The Deck Later

30 min

Every few months, go back through the deck together over snacks. Pull the cards nobody ever wanted and tear them up with ceremony. Then write 10 to 15 new ones, using everything you've learned about which dares actually land. Before anyone leaves, pick the date of the next draw.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • The card that produced the best photo becomes legend. Write a sequel with a shorter time limit.

You just handed your free evenings over to a stack of cards you wrote yourselves, and the first one delivered. Put the next draw date in the group chat tonight.
