Reusable fine mesh strainer bag

A drawstring bag made of fine nylon or polyester mesh, designed to hold plant material while liquid flows through. Keeps debris contained during dye extraction and makes cleanup instant—just lift out the bag instead of straining gallons of hot liquid.

What to look for

  1. 1Fine enough mesh to catch small plant bits (around 200 micron / fine nut-milk bag grade)
  2. 2At least 8×12 inch capacity—needs to hold a quart of plant material loosely
  3. 3Drawstring closure that won't come undone when you lift it full and hot
  4. 4Heat-resistant material that won't melt in boiling water

Skip

  • Coarse mesh like produce bags—plant bits escape and stick to fabric
  • Non-reusable cheesecloth (works once but becomes a recurring cost)

Used for: containing onion skins, avocado pits, or flower petals while simmering dye · bundling plant materials for eco-printing without direct fabric contact · straining plant infusions without fishing out debris · making cleanup instant when processing foraged dye plants
