About This Quest

Get three to six friends around a table for two hours and build a deck of 40 to 60 dare cards together. Food, exploring, silly experiments, whatever your group loves. Then shuffle, draw one, and go do it.

Think of the best plans your friend group has ever made, then imagine them written on little cards you can shuffle. That's what you're building tonight: one deck, made by all of you, full of challenges nobody can argue with once it's drawn. You'll brainstorm wild ideas, cut the boring ones by vote, then write each keeper on a blank card with its time and a one-to-three-star difficulty. No design skills needed, messy handwriting is part of the charm. By the end of the night you'll draw your very first card.

Why This Quest Matters

Your group chat is full of "we should totally" plans that never happen. A deck fixes that, because the card decides and everybody already agreed to it. The best part isn't the shuffle, though. It's watching your quiet friend suggest something ridiculous and hearing the whole table shout yes.

What You'll Experience

  • Invent your own dares: Fill a table with ideas nobody would have thought of alone.
  • Vote like a committee of chaos: Argue, laugh and cut the cards that aren't fun enough.
  • Star-rate the hard ones: Give each card a time and a one-to-three-star difficulty.
  • Draw your first card: Shuffle, flip, and find out what your group just signed up for.

Before You Begin

Pick a night when three to six friends can sit at one table for two uninterrupted hours, snacks included. You'll want a pack of blank poker-size playing cards (a 180-card pack leaves room for mistakes and additions), a set of colored markers so each category gets its own color, and a small hinged tin to carry the finished deck. Handy extras: a stack of scrap paper for the brainstorm so nothing goes on a card too early, and a timer to switch categories every 15 minutes.

Safety Tips

  • Write cards that work in public without bothering anyone: enter shops during opening hours, stay out of private and fenced-off property, and skip anything that needs a permit you don't have.
  • For cards that involve strangers, keep them opt-in and friendly. A compliment or a question is fine; following people, filming them without asking, or pressing on after a no is not.
  • Agree on the house rule before you shuffle: one skip per person per session, no explanation needed, and nobody gets talked into a card they don't want.
  • If a card sends the group somewhere after dark or far from home, go together and tell someone outside the group where you're headed.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Set the Table

15 min

Get everyone seated with snacks and scrap paper, and write the five category names where all of you can see them: Food Adventures, Active Challenges, Creative Projects, Social Experiments, Exploration Missions. Explain the one rule for the next hour: every card has to be something your group could actually finish in one to three hours.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Assign each category a marker color now. It saves a scramble when you start writing cards.
2

Brainstorm Loud and Fast

30 min

Aim for 50 to 100 ideas and let them be ridiculous. Switch categories every 15 minutes so nobody gets stuck staring at Food Adventures. Shout ideas, write every one down, and don't judge yet. The eel-sushi dare and the dawn bridge walk both get written. Judging comes later.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • The silliest idea of the night usually becomes the group's favorite card, so write it down instead of laughing it away.
3

Vote and Cut

40 min

Now get ruthless together. Read each idea aloud and keep it only if it fits one to three hours, works for your group size, is legal and considerate, and would make a good story afterward. If anyone strongly objects, it goes. Trim down to 40 to 60 keepers, which is plenty for a deck you'll actually use.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Keep the cut ideas on a scrap pile. Some of them come back as better cards after a few sessions.
4

Write the Deck

25 min

Split the keepers between you and start writing cards. Each one gets a title, a short description, a time estimate, and one to three stars for difficulty, in that category's color. Divide them up so everyone writes about ten. Handwriting beats perfection here, and a smudge or two gives the deck character.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Write the title big enough to read across a table. You'll be holding these up for the group.
5

The First Draw

10 min

Read the rules aloud and get a yes from everyone: draw a card, read it out, vote to accept or skip, one skip each per session, and whoever accepts starts within 30 minutes. Then shuffle, let the newest member of the group draw, and flip it face up. Whatever it says, you're doing it.

💡 Pro Tips:

  • • Stand up before you read the card. It's much harder to talk yourself out of something standing.

You and your friends just built a deck that makes decisions for you, and you've already done the first card. Shuffle it again next weekend and let someone else draw.
