Mini watercolor set
A compact palette with 6–12 colors in tubes or pans, sized for postcard-scale experiments. Tubes give better control over paint consistency than pans.
What to look for
- 1Tubes rather than pans if you're learning dilution control
- 2At least primary colors plus white (5–6 colors minimum)
- 3Clearly labeled pigment lightfastness ratings
- 4Non-toxic and acid-free for work you'll keep
Skip
- 36+ color sets with many redundant browns and grays
- "Student grade" with filler instead of pigment (chalky, weak color)
Used for: small-scale color mixing practice · travel painting without bulk · testing techniques before larger projects · quick studies and sketches
