Merino wool base layer

Thin wool underlayer worn next to skin that regulates temperature during low-intensity outdoor activity. Keeps you warm when still, sheds heat when moving, and doesn't stink after hours of wear.

What to look for

  1. 1100% merino wool or high-percentage blend (not synthetic)
  2. 2Midweight (200–250 g/m²) for cold weather; lightweight (150–180 g/m²) for mild
  3. 3Snug fit so it layers invisibly under regular clothes
  4. 4Flat seams to prevent chafing during extended wear

Skip

  • Cotton underlayers that trap sweat and make you clammy
  • Cheap wool blends that itch and defeat the purpose

Used for: staying warm during slow walking or sitting exercises · regulating temperature across morning-to-afternoon sessions · wearing under street clothes for inconspicuous outdoor practice
