Limited palette oil paint set
Four to six tube oil paint set designed around proven color-mixing systems. Eliminates guesswork and teaches color relationships faster than working with twenty tubes.
What to look for
- 1Includes warm and cool primaries plus white—typically six colors maximum
- 2Artist-grade pigment load, not student grade that looks muddy when mixed
- 3Based on historical palettes (Zorn, Impressionist) with proven track records
- 4Buttery consistency that doesn't require excessive medium
Skip
- Sets with convenience colors (pre-mixed greens, purples) that defeat the learning purpose
- Student-grade paint marketed as limited palettes
Used for: Plein air painting under time pressure · Learning color mixing fundamentals · Traveling light with fewer tubes · Forcing unified color harmony
