Laminated city transit map
A waterproof paper map showing all bus, train, and subway routes in your city. Forces you to learn the system's spatial logic instead of blindly following app directions.
What to look for
- 1Shows all transit types together (bus + rail) on one view
- 2Pocket-sized when folded (fits in jacket pocket)
- 3Lamination thick enough to survive rain and repeated folding
- 4Includes frequency indicators (peak vs off-peak service)
Skip
- Tourist versions that only show downtown attractions
- Maps without neighborhood names (just route numbers)
- Oversized formats that don't fold small
Used for: Learning your city's transit grid · Planning multi-leg trips without a phone · Finding alternative routes when lines are down
