Grid paper sketchbook
A sketchbook with light grid lines instead of blank pages. The grid helps plan symmetrical designs and makes it easier to translate sketches into digital files for fabrication tools.
What to look for
- 1Light gray grid that won't dominate your sketches (around 5mm spacing works well)
- 2Paper weight thick enough that markers won't bleed through (at least 70gsm)
- 3Binding that lets the book lie flat when open
- 4Size that's portable but gives enough space to work (A5 or 8.5x11 inch)
Skip
- Heavy grid lines that overpower your actual drawing
- Spiral binding that gets caught on things in your bag
Used for: Planning laser cutting designs · Block print composition layout · Symmetrical pattern development · Translating ideas into fabrication files
