Wide-angle prime lens (16-24mm)
Fixed focal length lens that captures much wider views than kit lenses. Essential for building interiors, tight alleys, and architectural facades where you can't back up enough.
What to look for
- 116-24mm focal length for full-frame (10-16mm for crop sensors)
- 2f/2.8 or brighter for indoor/low-light urban spaces
- 3Matches your camera mount (RF, E, Z, etc.)
- 4Reasonably sharp in corners where architecture matters
Skip
- Ultra-wide zooms as first purchase—primes are sharper and lighter
- Fisheye lenses—distortion makes architecture documentation unusable
Used for: Interior documentation in confined spaces · Full building facade capture · Alley and narrow street photography · Architectural detail context shots
